4th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
ON ENVIRONMENTAL ENRICHMENT

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

SUBMISSIONS

*

Submissions - All authors, whether for oral presentations, posters, or workshops, should submit their papers for publication in the conference proceedings. The purpose of the proceedings is to, as accurately as possible, represent the content of the conference. If a paper is not received by the deadline, only the abstract will be published in the proceedings.

*

All manuscripts must be typed and submitted in English. Manuscripts should not exceed 20 pages in length and should not contain automatic formats. Formats will be standardized by the editors.

*

Manuscripts must be submitted as both a hard copy AND a 3.5-inch floppy disk, zip100 disk, or e-mail. Electronic submissions should be in MS Word, Word Perfect, or Rich Text Format (RTF). Macintosh disks preferred. Write the author's name and type (application and version) of the files on the disk. The hard copy will only be used in the event that the electronic version is wholly or partially unreadable.

*

All submissions must be hand-delivered during the conference to the Registration Desk or sent to 4th ICEE Proceedings, The Shape of Enrichment, Inc., 1650 Minden Dr., San Diego, CA 92111 USA. Telephone: (858) 279-4273; e-mail: shape@enrichment.org. Please make sure that your submissions are clearly identified for the Conference Proceedings. The final deadline is 1 November, 1999.

TITLE AND RUNNING TITLE

*

The beginning of the manuscript should contain the precise title, authors' names, affiliations, and addresses. All manuscripts must contain the name, address, telephone (or fax) and e-mail (if available) of the person to contact for more information.

*

If desired, the author may suggest a shortened or abbreviated running title of up to 40 characters, including spaces. The running title will appear with the page numbers of the proceedings on each page following the article's title page. If no acceptable running title is submitted, the editors will select one.

ABSTRACT AND KEY WORDS

*

The abstract should concisely (not to exceed 250 words) and accurately reflect the purpose and most important results or conclusions of the paper.

*

Up to ten key words should be included after the abstract.

TABLES AND FIGURES (Graphs, Photographs, Drawings etc.)

*

Tables and Figures MUST NOT be placed within the text of the paper. The preferred placement of each with its identifying number and description (if needed) should be indicated. Example:

Text of the paper here

"Insert Table 3 (behavior categories) here."

Continue text here

*

Tables and Figures (graphs, photographs, drawings, etc.) must be submitted separately, one per page in the hard copy, with the identifying number written lightly on the back of the page (heavy ink may show through when scanning). Photographs should be clear, well-focused black-and-white prints. All figures may be submitted as JPeg or Tiff files on a 3.5-inch floppy disk, zip100 disk, or by e-mail.

*

Because the figures will be decreased in size in the final publication, they should not include text. Descriptions should only be included in the captions.

*

A page(s) of captions should be included at the end of the text, also referencing the identifying number for each figure.
